PHG became a member of Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC)
From 08/3/2012, PHG has officially became a member of Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC). VGBC is a project of the Green Cities Fund, Inc. (GCF) - an international non‐governmental organization based in Oakland, California. GCF was granted operating permission in Vietnam on January, 2008.
The VGBC is a not‐for-profit project and functions solely to co-ordinate with government and the private sector in order to study, to contribute to build up a green, more sustainable and adaptive building environment in the context of climate change in Vietnam. The council has been officially recognized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction in March 2009 and since then the Ministry has constantly provided support in legal and technical aspects. The VGBC also became a part of the World Green Building Council – Asia Pacific Network.
Green buildings are environmentally responsible, resource-efficient throughout their life-cycle and are designed to reduce the overall impact of the built environment on human health and the natural environment.
Through the use of the VGBC's Rating Tools, building projects can identify a specific pathway to ensure that the projects are developed to the highest specification while retaining the lowest environmental impacts.
The above criteria motivated PHG to become a regular member of the VGBC (www.vgbc.org.vn), to strive together the mission "towards a sustainable building environment" in Vietnam, to develop green building projects, to raise awareness and build the resources to strengthen as well as developing further cooperation with all partners in the future.
